Grandparents morning

 Whoops forgot that I had already posted some of these, just in case you missed them on the last blog!
It was such a lovely sight to see our church filled with family members for our special grandparents Mass. In Kiri's case we had 4 generations and Olivia's and Isabel's Granny made the newsletter with a lovely photo of all her Sacred Heart Petone grandchildren.

Today was a very special day at Sacred Heart Petone. Our church was packed with our Grandparents and other whanau. In some cases we had 4 generations. Here are some of our family groups.

Anthony joins tui

At school prayer Anthony was introduced to the rest of our school by his 3 older very proud sisters. Welcome to Sacred Heart Petone!

We love visitors and helpers in Tui Class!

We are a real community of learners in Tui Class. We always welcome people in to share their interests and talents or provide support with our learning.
Patrica, Tom's mum is a keen gardener and she came in one Discovery time to help us plant some peas. Rebecca helps out in Tui and several other classes on Wednesdays, here her Zephannia and Apai are having a fun game of alphabet snap. Jill has been helping out in Tui class on a weekly basis for over 3 years, with more grandchildren yet to come to school hopefully we can convince her to keep coming. Here's a lovely photo of Jill with the grandchildren that are currently at Sacred Heart.

Tongan Language Week

We are so lucky to have lots of different cultures here at Sacred Heart. This week we are celebrating Tongan Language Week. We are practicing the days of the week, greetings and the sign of the cross in Tongan. Apai is very proud of his Tongan heritage and very happy to be sharing his language with Tui.

Welcome to Isabel

Olivia and the rest of Tui class were excited to welcome another new Tui, Isabel. At school prayer her 2 big brothers Henry and Reuben stood up to introduce her to the rest of the school. Welcome Isabel it's great to have you here!

Junior Trip to the Dowse Art Gallery

As part of our Inquiry unit on Petone's Past, the Junior Team visited The Dowse Art Gallery. We had a session in the 'Our Nostalgia' exhibition and another at the wharekai Nuku Tuwaharetoa. We chose some of our favourite things from the exhibition to draw and take home to talk about.
