Exploring Excellence with our Buddies

At Buddy time Tui and their Pukeko buddies brainstormed together what our terms school value 'Excellence' could look like. We then made a display outside the office. Have a look next time you are in school, here are some of the photos we used.
Sophie and Caitlin showed excellent cleaning up.

Semisi and Apai showed their excellent effort at writing.
Isabel and Kiri tried their best at sprinting.
Lulu and Roman thought excellence could be showing all the other values.

Victoria, Lola and Anthony showed excellent respect at karakia time.

Josh and Oscar show us their excellent homework.

Zephannia, Mia and Samantha had an excellent attitude in sharing with each other.

Welcome back to Term 4 everyone

What a lovely start to our last term for the year. The sun shone and the warm temperatures reminded us summer is on the way. Everyone now has their sun hats to keep at school and protect us from getting burnt. There is also a class supply of sun block if we forget to put it on at home.

We have started our WOW preparation with 2 school wide workshops. We experimented with a variety of techniques that will help us with our WOW creations.
Oscar had a go at the wire and wood workshop.

Kiri worked hard at the paper folding station.
Caitlin used her great imagination at paper folding.
Roman, Zephannia, Apai and Matatapu were proud of what they created with Miss McGuiness.

Lola had mum to show her techniques at the sewing workshop.

Duffy Book Role Model Assembly

Today we all received 2 great books from the Duffy Books in home programme. Linda Vagana came to our special assembly to present our books. Kiri from our class also received 1 of 3 special books that were presented to the school for students who were doing well in writing. Here we are reading them back in class.

Grandparents morning

Whoops forgot that I had already posted some of these, just in case you missed them on the last blog!
It was such a lovely sight to see our church filled with family members for our special grandparents Mass. In Kiri's case we had 4 generations and Olivia's and Isabel's Granny made the newsletter with a lovely photo of all her Sacred Heart Petone grandchildren.
Here are some of our grandparents.

We love visitors and helpers in Tui Class!

We are a real community of learners in Tui Class. We always welcome people in to share their interests and talents or provide support with our learning.
Patrica, Tom's mum is a keen gardener and she came in one Discovery time to help us plant some peas. Rebecca helps out in Tui and several other classes on Wednesdays, here her Zephannia and Apai are having a fun game of alphabet snap. Jill has been helping out in Tui class on a weekly basis for over 3 years, with more grandchildren yet to come to school hopefully we can convince her to keep coming. Here's a lovely photo of Jill with the grandchildren that are currently at Sacred Heart.
