Duffy Books

Today we all received 2 fantastic books through our Duffy Books in Homes programme. Tess and Oscar were some of the children who were given theirs by our role model, who visited us today.

Wet weather never stops Tui having a great time at school. Week 10 Term 1.

What a fantastic fun filled Friday festival we had at school on Friday. Despite the rain we had a great time. Thank you so much school councilors and Mr Theobald. Here's Thomas, Tekafa, Tialemua, Megan and Tess dancing at the Disco. Ella took part in the playdough sculpturing competition. Tui even made the dough. The treasure hunt was a favourite and Oscar really enjoyed the tap off.

On Thursday we completed our fire safety topic with a visit from the firefighters from Hutt Central station. Gary and Jamie presented us with our firewise certificates and we shared with them the things we had learnt.
We know to get down, get low, get out !
Mrs Pennington got to dress up in the 18 kilo fire suit. She could hardly walk in it and was very impressed with how strong fire fighters must be to work and even climb stairs in their suits!

What a great day for Lola to have one of her school visits. Here Lenix is having a turn with a special piece of equipment called a branch.

The most exciting part was having a go squirting the fire hose.

At Maths time we always use lots of hands on equipment to explore number concepts. Here Megan and Oscar are rolling dice and using cubes to make sets to match the number they roll.

Always exciting things going on in Tui Class

At Maths time we use a wide range of materials to explore ideas about number. Here we are practicing writing the 'teen' numbers with our maths buddy.

On Thursday Virginia and her dog Dex visited the Juniors and taught us how to be safe around dogs. We all received certificates and booklets to remind us of what we have learnt.

.
Discovery Time is our most favourite time of the week. It provides a time when we can mix and make n

ew friends across the junior syndicate. We also get to direct our own learning in a variety of fun creative activities. This week was a Taha Maori theme. Here we are having fun at some of the activities on offer.

Welcome to Tui Class Oscar and Thomas. It's great to have you here. At School prayer on Monday we welcomed you in front of our school community and on Friday you stood up at Assembly to receive your welcome certificate. Tess and Rosa both received certificates for fantastic work at writing time. Well done all of you.
